Exciting news and a bonanza of events in 2022.
Firstly we are hoping to have the original Book of Deer on loan from Cambridge University Library to be displayed at Aberdeen Art Gallery from July to September 2022. Secondly we are hoping to have an archaeological dig at the Abbey of Deer during that summer to try and find the Monastery of Deer and thirdly we are planning to have a programme of cultural events to celebrate the book’s return on loan and to involve the community and local groups.
You will appreciate that we need to raise a huge amount of money for this programme. We will be applying to a variety of funds for support and in the meantime, if you would like to support us, then please donate at our new crowdfunding page –
There are items of merchandise for sale – see our Facebook page and also a Booklet on Deer Abbey, second edition revised by author Mary M. Melville is on sale for only £3. For more information on any of these then please contact email@example.com
You can also support us every time you use Amazon. Instead of logging onto Amazon, logon to smile.amazon.co.uk using your usual Amazon username and password. Elect The Book of Deer Project SCIO as the charity you want to support and each time you make a purchase Amazon will give us a donation. It costs you no more than it normally would and we benefit by the donation.
The Book of Deer Project Centre at Aden Country Park – (currently closed due to the corona virus pandemic)
is now located within the Heritage Centre itself. The display is on the first floor in the old School Room and is open at all times when the Heritage Museum is open. There will usually be a volunteer on Saturday and Sunday afternoons between 1.30 and 4.00 p.m. to help with any queries. Please come along and visit – we’d be delighted to see you. Please note, however, that the Heritage Centre is closed during the winter months November to March. Special visits can be arranged by contacting us at – firstname.lastname@example.org.
