The archaeological dig for 2018, led again by Ali Cameron of Cameron Archaeology Ltd, will be held from 24th June until 8th July. It is funded by Heritage Lottery Funding and carried out in collaboration with Aberdeenshire Council’s archaeology service. We have a programme of local schools participating with various activities including story telling. We have 2 open days on Sunday 1st July and Saturday 7th July – come along and see the site and perhaps take part in some medieval potting. Those interested can walk along a signed path or they can be ferried to and fro by car. See the posters below – the second shows the walking route.
The Book of Deer Project Centre at Aden Country Park is now located within the Heritage Centre itself. The display is on the first floor in the old School Room and is open at all times when the Heritage Museum is open. There will usually be a volunteer on Saturday and Sunday afternoons between 1.30 and 4.00 p.m. to help with any queries. Please come along and visit – we’d be delighted to see you. Please note, however, that the Heritage Centre is closed during the winter months November to March. Special visits can be arranged by contacting us at – firstname.lastname@example.org.
